Polaroid Birth Announcements

I've underestimated the lack of time one has with two kids, especially with a newborn. I debated long and hard whether to make a birth announcement for the second baby but decided second-borns deserve love and attention as much as the first born.

I've always loved Polaroids and love them even more now that they supposedly don't make the film anymore. My father passed on his old Polaroid camera to my brother and he gave it to me. I still have a whole pack of fresh film left and can't find myself to open, let alone, use it. I don't know what I'm saving it for but I'll have to use it eventually.

So during a late night feeding, while I stared into total darkness, I came up with the Polaroid idea as a birth announcement. All you have to do is cut white cardstock into the size of a Polaroid and stick a photo on it. Of course you can tamper with the color of the photo to mimic the yellow tones of instant film. I wanted to create something more personal than a stock design and hand wrote his birth information on the back. I stuffed the "Polaroid" in an envelope and felt that it needed something more. I quickly sketched the camera, printed it out, used an exacto knife to cut a slit, put a back to it (to prevent the picture from falling out) and slipped the picture in. I love how it turned out and how versatile it is. It can be used as wedding invitations, save-the-dates, birthday parties, etc.

What would you use it for?
