Something to Ponder About: 29 Gifts

I never thought I was much of a reader until our cable was cut and I decided to set a good example for my children by not watching "trashy" television..at least not when they're awake. So to pass the time, I've been borrowing books from the library. The latest book I've read was 29 Gifts: How a Month of Giving Can Change Your Life by Cami Walker.

Cami suffers from Multiple Sclerosis and was having a very difficult time coping with the fact that she was not the same person she used to be. The story details her journey to find happiness in life despite her illness. Per her friend/mentor's suggestion, giving 29 selfless gifts each day would bring unexpected happiness to her life. It's a very fast and motivational read. So after reading this book, it gave me an idea to begin my own 29 Gifts challenge, which will begin the first of May. Perhaps I should make it a full 31 Gifts Challenge, just because there are 31 days in May. How about a 365 day challenge? Too ambitious? I guess I'll just start with 29 gifts beginning next month. I'm not telling you what I plan on doing just yet but to hold myself accountable, I plan on documenting all 29 Days on this blog, so stay tuned!

I highly recommend picking up the book. You can also check out Cami's website to read more about the 29-Day Giving Challenge!
